MPC Münchmeyer Petersen & Co.'s successful history started over 160 years ago, when on August 10th, 1846, Karl Georg Heinrich Franz Herrmann Münchmeyer founded Münchmeyer & Co., a foreign trade company offering various services in the fields of supply and financing of products, and which soon developed into a private merchant bank of international repute. The second founding house of the MPC Group, R. Petersen & Co., established in 1911, was also active in international trade.
Both companies merged in 1972 to form MPC Münchmeyer Petersen & Co., headed by Mr. Axel Schroeder sen. as Managing Partner. Ever since, MPC Münchmeyer Petersen has experienced a steady upward trend in its development. Today, the Group is divided into four major divisions: Capital Investment, Shipping and Shipbuilding, Commodities & Machinery and Consumer Goods.
With this well diversified range of services, the MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Group belongs today to a small number of major internationally operating trade and service-providing companies in Hamburg, leading the tradition of Hanseatic trade into the future.
