MPC Münchmeyer Petersen & Co. GmbH's origin goes back over 160 years to the year 1846. Originally operating as two separate trading firms, Münchmeyer & Co. and R. Petersen & Co. earned worldwide recognition at an early stage, thanks to their remarkable achievements in foreign trade.
In his capacity as Managing Partner of R. Petersen & Co., Axel Schroeder senior merged the two firms into MPC Münchmeyer Petersen & Co. in 1972. Today, he and his sons, Dr. Axel Schroeder and Dr. John Benjamin Schroeder, together with Dr. Klaus Lesker jointly manage the family-owned company, which is divided into three divisions: Capital Investments, Shipping and Shipbuilding as well as Commodities and Machinery.
In the Shipping and Shipbuilding division, MPC offers a wide range of services including supply and financing of material packages for international shipyards and ship building projects as well as engineering services.
These activities are managed by MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Marine GmbH. Today, the company co-operates with shipyards in over 20 countries world-wide.
In 1999, MPC Münchmeyer Petersen Steamship GmbH & Co. KG was founded, to manage the Group's shipping activities. In 2014 MPC Steamship was merged with ship owner Ahrenkiel and ship manager Thien & Heyenga into the shipping group Ahrenkiel Steamship, which is now part of the MPC Capital AG.
Since the foundation of MPC Capital in 1994 the capital investments division has always been an integral part of the MPC Group activities. As an independent, publicly traded asset manager for alternative investments, MPC Capital has been designing and managing investment products for select customers from that time on. MPC Capital's focus is on real estate, infrastructure and maritime real asset investment products. Having nearly twenty years of experience in these markets, MPC Capital has both an extensive network of partners and the administrative and organizational depth to cover the entire alternative-investment value chain. MPC Capital is thus a reliable product provider and high-performing asset manager for institutional investors, family offices, and private clients.
